Hello loves :) Hope everyone is having a fab week so far. I am so exhausted today! I hardly got any sleep last night... ahh the story of my life. Anyways, things have been going pretty well lately. The new house is coming along beautifully, junior year isn't as stessful as I anticipated, and the man and I are doing fantastic. I couldn't ask for more!

Today is all about embracing the girly girl in all of us. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in busy schedules, carpooling, & business hours that we forget about taking care of ourselves. Challenge yourself to take atleast one day or even one hour to pamper yourself. Enjoy a mani & pedi with your girlfriend or treat yourself to a mystic tan (my fave!) - you wouldn't believe what little it takes to put a spring in your step.

I can't tell you how much fun I've been having decorating this house! The only problem I've ran into is my budget... ugh. There's so much fabulous upholstery, accessories, lighting, & rugs - just not enough moolah! Patience is key. I have to limit my purchases to kitchen, master bedroom, & art studio decorations only. The den, dining room, & guest rooms will have to wait. Hey, I'm not complaining though. I am happy as can be with they way things are going. I couldn't be more blessed.

Turquoise Bliss

Hello girls! Hope everyone had or is having a fabulous labor day weekend. I know I am! I have been having so much fun designing mood boards for the new house. The family room/kitchen is going to be white & cream with pops of turquoise, pink and brown accents. The master bedroom is also going to be mainly cream & white with light pink accents and the dining room is beige and chocolate. Stay tuned for pics and updates!

I just can't get over how much I love today's room. It just proves that it doesn't take ten grand and a mansion to create a gorgeous space. All of the furniture and accessories were bought at affordable prices from stores like Ikea and Target. I glad I discovered it via Simply Kelly Blog.

Doesn't it feel so fresh and clean? It's just a happy space. The white details give it a crisp touch.

Welcome Home

Friday is going to be big day! Yep, I'm happy to announce that we will be closing on my first house! After almost 7 months of house hunting I finally found the absolute PERFECT home. I literally walked into this house and began balling. It took my breath away. I still can't believe I'll be living in it one day! I am so blessed.

Our relator has had to put up with so much from my parents and me. He told us that we have taken longer to buy a house than any of his other customers. Okay, so we were pretty picky... but it was worth it! I am so glad we didn't settle on any other houses. This one was worth the hunt! The one and only downfall is its location. The house is located downtown in a not-so-safe area. We are planning on investing in alot of security since I will be living alone. I'm probably going to have a roommate at some point but that will take some time. In the meantime my boyfriend will have to look after me and keep me company!

Whew! I am so happy to be done house hunting and to have a place to call home. Now the real fun can begin - decorating decorating decorating! I can finally put my inspired mind to use. The only problem is I'll have to shop for alot of things online. Memphis has absolutely no shopping! Most of the furniture down here caters to the french country style cliental. My style is more eclectic-chic. Needless to say I'll definitely be hunting for

Hey lovely girls! So lately I have really been working on finding time to make art for my Etsy shop. Right now there are such few pieces that it's almost embarrassing. I am always curious as to how some shop owners have the time to make so many items! I am so jealous. I am assuming they are either stay-at-home moms, older women with grown kids, or girls in their 20s. I only have two more weeks of my job left so hopefully I can make time dedicated solely to art-making. However, it won't be long 'til school starts and my schedule will become packed again. I am also convinced that the boyfriend takes up some of my time too. He is no way an inconvenience, it's simply the fact that relationships require alot of time in order to sustain a healthy partnership.

Anyways, I spent the majority of last night searching for inspiring Etsy artwork to get my creativity flowing. It's absolutely amazing how many fabulous finds you can discover there. Something I have always wanted to do is distress wood. I've attempted it several times but failed because I never read directions. Hehe.. I've always hated following directions and tried to avoid them at all costs. Last night I finally gave and read the steps. I was shocked at how simple the process is. I found some beautiful unfinished wood on Etsy that I ordered last night. Now I'm so excited about putting my new skills to the test!

A Lovely Explosion

One of the many things I love about the internet is the lovely images you can discover. I'm talking about images that take your breathe away and whisk you away into a world where all is well. You can uncover snapshots of spaces that seem to exist only in your dreams. Some of them demand you to take a moment and observe their evoking qualities, while others only require a blink to beautify your day. Images have the ability to awaken your senses and inspire something magnificent within your creative nature. I believe that is one of the reasons we love to blog. We love to escape our chaotic lives and immerse ourselves into our blissful little world. Oh, if only it lasted all day...

If you are a home decor DIY freak (like I am), I am sure you are familiar with Do It Yourself Magazine. I fell in love with this mag a few months ago when I discovered it on zinio.com. Zinio is a site where you can purchase magazines and read them on your very own desktop, laptop, ipad, or iphone. It's fantastic. Anyways, here's a few highlights from this month's issue. Enjoy :)

I love these creative ways people are turning household items into chalkboards. Chalking takes care of a whole lot of things. You can write down grocery lists, to-do lists, calendars, or simply decorate your chalky area.

Feather Heads

Girls all over the world are sporting this new creative craze: hair feathers. Everyone from Steven Tyler and Kesha to your best friend down the street is in love with the new fad. Personally I think they are not only sophisticated, but they also make you stand out in the crowd.

There are tons of reasons why this look is so popular and versatile.

1) They are still new.

Not everyone you know are wearing them nor can they all pull them off (take my executive mother for example). But if you do decide to get feathered I'm betting you'll be the talk of the town.

2) They aren't permanent.

Feather extensions are especially great if you've ever wanted to try something different but still aren't ready. If you decide that they just aren't for you then instead of spending $$$ at the salon, you can remove them at home in a matter of seconds.

3) There is a variety of styles, smoking hot colors, and high & low prices.

If you want to go the more professional route you can purchase them and have them put in at your salon. The downfall is it can cost up to %50 more than it would if you bought them on Etsy and inserted them yourself.

4) For upkeep simply shampoo and blow-dry like you would your own hair.

You also have the ability to curl the extensions, krimp, or straighten them. They can last up to 2 months if you treat them with care.

5) You can play them subtle, you can play them scattered, or you can play them wild & crazy.

Depending upon how many feathers you insert, how long they are, or where they are located on your head can say alot of things. Going for a more "look at me" kinda look? Try placing some short ones near the roots of your bangs. Bright colors are also a crowd pleaser - but don't over do it. Balance off the color with a few tresses of darks and neutrals.

Here's a wacky fact that I bet you didn't know: feather extensions may not be here for long. Companies are finding it harder and harder to supply this "high demand" trend. There seems to be a shortage in birds that create these gorgeous accents. Fisherman are having to pay more for feathers because of their increasing rareness.

I'm back to house hunting and I think my parents and I are ready to make an offer! We found a gorgeous 4 bedroom home in a fantastic location. I am beyond excited! I can't wait to show off pictures when we finally close the deal. We made our first offer today and we are waiting to hear back from the bank. Cross your fingers & wish us luck! I am really ready to have my own space. I am 21 and kind of growing out of my childhood room. I spend most of my time at my boyfriend's house just to get away from the chaotic fam. Gotta love them though. They have been great to me. I think it is just time that I live on my own. Don't you think?

I am also looking forward to the beach this weekend! My boyfriend's family invited us to their annual vacation to Myrtle beach. I've never been to Myrtle before but I'm sure it will be beautiful. Has anyone been there before? What is it like? Any good shopping? Hehe. Some days I need a break from the hot July sun. Anyways, it should be fun. I don't know his family too well since they live in Baltimore. I think this will really give me some time to get to know them a little better. It is a 12 hour drive.. ugh - but it will be worth it!

So all together things are really looking up. I don't blog about it much but this year has been exceptionally hard. Alot of things have gone wrong.. that is one of the reasons I don't blog as much. I struggle with depression and bipolar issues. Some days it is just hard to get motivated or inspired. Everyday it is a challenge. However, things are slowly getting better. I know the Lord has a plan and I just need to trust in him. :)

I made a living room mood board today. I don't make them too often because I struggle with photoshop. I'm not very tech savvy! Hope you guys like it. I think it would make a fabulous space. Very feminine but not too girly. I am trying to stray away from all the pink and frills! I'd love to hear what you think :)

7 Gorgeous Bedrooms

A bedroom is a woman's castle. It is her perfect place to escape all of life's chaos. Her bedroom should reflect the inside of her soul - right down to the color of the outlet covers. My room is a work in progress. I am constantly swapping out pillows and re-arranging shelves. Things seem to get boring very easily. Although I am not in it often, I still want it to be a place that makes me smile when I enter it.

I just love walking into my little haven of peace every night. It is so nice to be around familiar things after a long day of unfamiliarity. Who cares that I still don't have matching pillows and a few empty shelves? (I am in the process of renovating my room). I always look forward to sinking my body into a cloud full of pink sheets and breathing in the sweet aroma of childhood. Yes, I still live with my parents. We are actually in search of a house for me. I am almost 21 and in dier need of my own space! Urrghh... one day.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

I am in a desperate search to find a graphic designer to create a new layout for my site. My current one is something I put together myself and it is getting so worn out. Okay, so here's the thing. I paid $200 for a custom layout by Fabulous K Creative. I ordered it in March and she said it would be done by May. It is now JUNE and I have heard nothing back. I have attempted to e-mail her several times and I have had no response. I am BEYOND disappointed. I was so excited to have her design my new template. Pink Wallpaper and Blonde Ambition both have gorgeous layouts done by her. However, it looks like I won't be receiving mine. Wow, what a bummer.

I would highly recommend you never order anything from this designer. My hard earned money has been washed down the drain. I am hoping that the "Mustard Ceiling" will be designing my new layout. Her rates are extremely reasonable and her work is beautiful. Hopefully this one will work out - cross your fingers!

Okay, enough complaining. I just got back from Baltimore where I spent the week visiting my boyfriend's hometown. B-more is nothing fancy but I still had a really good time. Tom and I had a bunch of bonding time. See, we are like fire and ice. We fight like crazy and the next minute we are making up. It's crazy! I think this is because we are very alike. Oh well, it keeps things interesting. Haha.

Well I hope everyone has an awesome weekend. I am planning on getting a manicure, doing some organizing, house hunting, and possibly getting some more art done. I really need some more work for my Etsy shop.

Away in Paradise

Did you miss me? Sorry, I was somewhere very close to paradise. Crystal clear waters, porcelain white sands, and a blazing sun.. yep, you guessed it - florida! My family and I just got back from Watercolor, FL. It is like a little slice of heaven with a cape-cod feel. The weather was perfect, although hot, but nevertheless lovely. My brother brought his adorable girlfriend Shelby, I had my man, and my parents had.. well, eachother. That made it a three couple trip which was kind of neat. I mean, lets be honest here, the trip wasn't perfect.. I definitely had some hormonal ups and downs (you know where I'm going with this). But overall it wasn't a complete disaster. Haha. Heres a few snap shots I took of paradise.

Okay, so my parents are in the market to purchase a beach home in a part of Florida called "Alys Beach." It is absolutely the most magnificent part of FL you could imagine. If you haven't visited Alys your missing out! Cobble stoned pathways, beautiful white stucko, tendrels of ivy spiral staircases.. okay enough! You will see for yourself. Here are a few snap shots of a couple houses we saw. Still thinking about which one we like best. Everyone is nagging at my Dad it's hilarious.

Baby Love

Okay, so I'm not a real mom, but for 9 hours a day I have to pretend that I am. I was hired as a summer sitter for a sweet little 4-month-old named Wells. Since I am surrounded by spit-up and baby coos all day I thought I'd post some happy baby images this week. Prior to my research, I had no idea how beautiful some of these lucky little offspring's nurseries were. I am so inspired that I am close to ripping down Wells' wallpaper and re-doing his room. Haha, however, I'm not too sure Mrs. Grantham would be as pleased as I would be. I guess I'll just have to wait a few years.

In the meantime, babysitting has reminded me just how difficult a baby can be! Yes, they are also alot of fun.. but boy do they require patience. I have almost become numb to the sound of crying. Seriously, you could turn on Lady Ga Ga or a soundtrack of screams and I probably wouldn't know the difference. All I can say is.. thank God for the man who invented the baby swing.

I love these images. There are so many different ways you can go about decorating a baby's room. Some people choose to go the unisex route.. warm yellows & cool blues, funky critters and eclectic stripes. While others decorate by gender.. girly girl pinks & elegant ruffles and bright baby blues for the little boys.

My Pink Palace

Each of you has a special place they can call, "my room." It is a divine place we can go at the end of the day to escape the hustle and bussle of the world. It represents our personality and holds some of our most precious treasures. Our room is where we spend 1/3 of our lives.. although most of that time we are unconscious. Nonetheless, our rooms will always be our most intimate and comfortable hideaway in the world.

My room is a work in progress. Though I am almost 21 years old, I still live with my parents. We have been house hunting for several months but still haven't found my dream home. So, in the meantime I have decided to spruce up my teen-themed room. As I mentioned a couple of months earlier, my room was professionally decorated when I was 13 for a local magazine, Justine Magazine. European fabrics, sassy accents, bright wall ornaments, girly bows, and hot pink wallpaper engulfed me. Being the little fashionista that I was (and still am), I absolutely loved it! However, 8 years later I am feeling a bit nauseated.

So I decided to change a few things. New bedspread on the way, threw the chase lounge out, and I re-decorated the shelves. I don't spend too much time in there anymore though. Now that I have a job and a boyfriend I am either working or at my boyfriend's house. I went and bought some fashion books and roses yesterday and I think they are really bringing the room together. Check it out.

The first image is of my end table, the second is my shelves & the third is a close up of my shelf. I absolutely LOVE tiaras. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the royal family or that I just like the whole princess idealism. Either way, they are beautiful.

I love my new elephant from Furbish Studio! Isn't he adorable? I bought the zebra tray at hobby lobby and my fluer de lis from a local boutique. I think zebra and pink is always a fun combination.

My vanity. Ah, what girl doesn't love her vanity? It is my favorite place in my room. I love waking up every morning and deciding what face I am going to put on that day. Oh, the perks of being a girl!

Okay I am obsessed with my new Iphone cover! I also purchased this little gem on Etsy. Casemoda made it for me. She is amazing! She has so many designs and her work is so pristine. I would definitely reccommed buying a case from her. Especially if you are looking for something totally glammed out.

Hey! Wow it has been a while. I have been so busy! I thought the summer would be the perfect time to start blogging again. However, I was wrong. As I mentioned earliar, I am spending my summer babysitting a 3-month-old everyday. Whew, it's a work out. But thankfully it is getting much easier.

I have also been busy trying to get all my transcripts into University of Memphis. I am transferring there in the fall. I am still not sure what I want to major in. I think I am going to major in either interior design or home furnishings. I don't know... I love illustration as well. Ugh, deciding on a career is so difficult!

I have been dying to work on more artwork.. but when I get home at night I am so tired from the baby that I just go right to bed. I added some more work to my etsy shop though. If you are interested in looking at my work click here! There aren't too many pieces available right now, but it's a work in progress.

I have a really cool story to tell. Every month at my church they have an artist paint a painting during their Sunday night service. This month is my month to do it. Last week I painted a large, colorful painting that had the verse, "Love always hopes," written on it. I didn't think anyone would like it because it was very girly and had a few things wrong with it. After the service a man who was in tears came up to me and said, "I'd like to buy your painting. You see, my wife and I have been separated for 2 months and I saw her for the first time tonight and she came to me and said 'there is still hope for us.' When I looked up on stage and saw what your painting said I almost fell to my knees. I knew it was a sign from God. You don't know what your painting means to me. I have been praying non-stop for 2 months for God to show me a sign. I want to buy your painting and give it to my wife."

I was shocked. Tears started rolling down my eyes and goose bumps popped up all over my body. It was the coolest thing anyone had ever told me, and it was all because of my artwork. Thats the type of difference I want to make with my art. I don't want to just make things that are pretty to look at. I want to make things that touch people's hearts.

Today I wanted to post a few lovely interiors. I usually have a little theme, but not today. I just love these rooms. They inspire me so much. Not all of them are spaces. Some of them are just snapshots of beautiful things. Enjoy!

I can officially say from experience that being a mom or a babysitter is no easy job. I'm not a mom yet, thank God, but I am spending my summer watching a 3-month-old little boy named Wells. Don't get me wrong, he is an adorable little nugget - but boy is he hard work! I was thinking - wow! This will be great, I will have so much time to blog and work on art. All they do is sleep right? Think again. He takes so much attention! This is the first time I have been on the internet all week. I thought that surely the summer would give me some time to catch up on my site. But no...

I hardly got one paragraph in before I had to go attend to Wells for an hour. I shouldn't be complaning though. I knew what I was getting into when I signed up for this. Atleast this tells me one thing - I don't want kids for a long time! Haha. They sure are adorable, but time for yourself completely flys out the window. I mean, you should see me right now. I am a wreck! I am still in pajamas, no make-up, & house shoes. Not a pretty site!

I am thankful I'm not working a job where I have to hang up clothes or make sandwiches all day. But seriously, this is like the same job a mom has. I have to balance keeping a home clean, errands, and a 3-month-old for 11 hours a day! By the time 6:00 pm comes around I am exhausted! All I feel like doing is sleeping... Thank God for starbucks!

I just got the latest editions of Style at Home. Yaye! These are probably my two favorite home magazines. I decided I'd share the highlights with you.

I have always been obsessed with these sun mirrors. How wonderful does it look ontop of the bed? The bed post is gorgeous as well. I love the little carved out flowers. I could definitely see this being my bedroom one day.

How fabulous are these turquoise stripes? It is so easy to ruin a room with stripes, but in here.. the stripes make the room. This looks like a fashionista's office dream. This is the type of environment I would love to create art and do my work in. Perhaps she is a fashion designer? The mannequin screams designer. I think it is simply chic.

I love this little perfume and accessorie arrangement on the left. It is so feminine and glamourous. Perfumes look fabulous upon a glass tray. I lost mine - go figure - so I've been on a search for a new one. I also love the pops of color throughout the shelves and room on the right. It looks like such a summery, happy room.

Okay, what a gorgeous room! And talk about pattern. This room definitely pulled it off. I love the chest at the end of the bed. The pattern is so detailed and dramatic. The deep colors of the bed give off a passionate vibe. I'm not sure I'd have this as my room but I sure do enjoy looking at it.

This room feels like a breath of fresh air. All the light touches give it a summery essence. I could see this house looking over a gorgeous florida beach. It is very organic and elegant. I love the shape of the chairs and love seats. Beautiful

This room is so ME. It has all the accents and combinations that I love: beautiful art, pink flowers, animal printed pillows, strips, and a tufted chair and footstool. Perfection.

This vanity is so simple and beautiful. I love how bare and clean it is. Just enough feminine touches to make it girly. The feather painting is my favorite. I think it does a nice job drawing in all the other colors in the space.

I love black & white. The pattern on the back of the dinning chairs is so very chic. Literally, I would give up my left pinky finger for them. Yes, it might hurt, but I'd have the most gorgeous chairs on the block!

I apologize for my premature post. I am on the verge of passing out! I have had alot of work this week. Hope everyone else is having a wonderful one though! I thought I'd post my latest piece of art. This my final project for my drawing class. Hope you like it!

The first set of images are the originals & the second set are photoshopped.

I'm considering selling a few as prints. I'm not sure yet. I really loved doing this though! Collaging is totally my thing. I just wish I knew how to incorporate it into something that is marketable. Any suggestions?

How was your Easter? Does your family have any traditions? Believe it or not, my family really doesn't. When it comes to holidays, we just go with the flow. Our only tradition on Easter is that we always go to our favorite restaurant, Houston's, after church. They have the best steaks in Memphis! Yum.

Lots will be happening this week! Stitches will be gone by Tuesday (thank you, Lord!), Tom moves into his new house, my final art project is due, I’ll be getting rental car (I'm carless at the moment), and I’m getting psyched about my new job. I just pray I don't have any more accidents. Please Lord, no wrecks, no broken iPhones, no visits to the emergency room. I’m not sure how all of that happened in one week, but if trouble really comes in three’s, at least I’m done for a while!

And this is my last week of school! Hooray! However, the stress isn't completely over. I start my summer job next Monday. I am going to have the enormous responsibility of caring for a 3 month old every Monday through Friday. Babies are my life. But I am expecting a lot of work. I'm sure after I get into a routine, we’ll have fun. Naptime = blogtime! I am really looking forward to it. (I need more responsibilities!)

I found some awesome spring steals on Asos.com today. If you haven't visited this website you need to! It is a British based online clothing store. I'm telling you, they have some amazing finds. There is something exciting about purchasing something you can't get in the states. Check them out!

How sexy-fabulous are these dresses? If you have an amazing figure flaunt it in the middle dress with the cut out. If you are like me and you don't, cover it up with the airy pleated dresses. I actually broke down and bough the dress on the right. It just looks heavenly.

I love how unique this dress on the left is. I could never find that here in Memphis! It actually wouldn't be hard to make. Just alot harder to get into (for me). Haha. And I think this hippie-care-free style on the right is so easy and cozy. It's a great outfit for a day of shopping in SOHO. You could also wear the little floral top as a bathing suit coverup. It would look gorgeous on the beach!

I can't wait to get into one of these babies! Just a couple more weeks at the gym. Aren't they lovely? The white one has to be my favorite. It looks great on tan skin. It would have been perfect for Easter. The yellow reminds me of a wedding rehearsal or perhaps Easter as well. Either way, all three are perfect for this spring & summer.

I think these bags are simply wonderful. Not only are they super-fabulous but they carry a ton of stuff and are very easy to carry. Turquoise can basically go with anything these days. And you can't go wrong with leopard - it is everywhere this season. I am coveting these bags. I need one... really I do!!

Hello, My Friends!

Having a wonderful week? I hope so. I am feeling tremendously grateful today. While one of the worst events of my life happened Tuesday... I was in a car accident...thank the Lord in heaven, no one was badly injured. The accident was my fault. It was a four car collision. The greatest lesson is that in a blink of an eye, life can change so quickly. We should all be thankful for each day and be so very careful and attentive to important things like driving safely.

I am dealing with a lot of emotions right now. My beloved Escalade will be in the shop for several months, and I may not have a car until then. We do take our independence for granted. I hated to see that wonderful machine all crunched up, but again, incidents like this help put my priorities in order. Health and a sound mind are much more valuable than metal. And while very inconvenient, the metal is repairable and replaceable.

The Lord is still in control. It could of been worse. Someone could of died...or, I could have lost my own life. How much pain would that have caused? Yes, my folks have a wrecked car to deal with, but they are so thankful I am okay. I keep telling myself over and over, I can't be anything but grateful. Yes, today I am very grateful!

Lately I have been so uninspired! I think it is because of how stressed I've been.

It is almost time for exams and school is getting really crazy. Tom is in the process of moving to Memphis so I have to spend alot of time helping him figure out where he is going to live etc etc. I constantly have a million things running through my brain and I am mentally and physically exhausted! I am so ready for the summer. Two more weeks!

So today I have come up with a bazillion images of crafty inspiration. I am an art freak. I love keeping sketchbooks, scrapbooks, art journals, & more. All Dolled Up

I hope everyone is having an inspiring, spring week! I am stressed beyond belief. Procrastination is my worst enemy. I litterally wait until the very last minute to do everything. Not good. I am paying the consequences for my belated actions this week. Ugh.

I am so excited because I am going to see my boyfriend in Baltimore tomorrow! We have been dating for 5 months and I still haven't met his parents. I am really looking forward to it. We are going to spend the weekend there and head back to Memphis on Sunday. We are driving.. for 15 hours. Whew! It is the only way he can get his car down here though. Looks like I'll be finishing those books sitting on my end table.

My inspiration for today is a mix of shabby chic, vintage treasures, & lingerie. I just love pretty, delicate things. I found all the images on my new favorite blog, Paris Apartment. Not only does it have inspirational photography, but it also features amazing decorative finds and fabulous antiques. They also have an incredible online boutique! I am in love with everything in it. My Pink Palace

Hi Ladies! I hope you had a gorgeous spring Saturday.
The tempeture here in Memphis was a sizzling 95 degrees.
Yep, I really enjoyedsweating my you know what off and sneezing from
the crazy amount of pollen all day.. not. But hey, what am I complaining about?
Just a few weeks ago I was fighting off frost bite and wearing 5 layers of clothes.
The only real thing that bothers me about spring and summer
is that I have to show more skin. Ugh.

I have to be honest, I definitely put on a little love layer since fall and
there is no way I am letting these jelly rolls go loose. So, I decided to do something
about it. Here's a hint.. it's one of the most awful, painful, horrendous and dreaded things ever.. a diet. I hate diets! Who doesn't? Saying no to the cinnamon crunch bagel at Panera Bread seriously has to be as hard as climbing Mount Everest. I'm telling you, I have absolutely no self-disipline when it comes to food. I am a sugar-addict, cupcake fanatic, say-yes-to-everything fatty. I try to embrace my body regardless of my weight, but sometimes you just can't help but want to change it. I keep telling myself over and over,

"remember, nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!"

It really is time I get healthy though. The daily Dunkin' Donuts stops must come to an end.
However, I know that in 1 month I won't regret missing one bite. It's only when you're watching your friend indulge in a piece of chocolate cake while you sit and bite your nails that it's really hard. I can't wait to stop feeling physically uncomfortable all the time. I can't wait to catch myself in a reflection and think, "damn, I look good!"

I need encouragement. I don't want anyone saying, "oh you don't need to lose any weight!"
Because guess what, I know they're lying. All I want to lose is about 20 lbs and tone up my arms and stomach. Oh, and don't base my weight off of my profile picture.. that was 3 years ago when I was a stick! My current weight is 142 and my goal weight is 122. Wish me luck y'all!

Today I decided I'd post some snapshots of my room. Now, keep in mind that this is my childhood room. It hasn't had a make-over in 8 years. Don't get me wrong, I love pink.. but a room with everything but the toilet pink - what was my mom thinking? Okay, it was adorable when I was thirteen. Infact, it was featured in Justine Magazine.

Remember, I am NO photographer! I can make any kind of art you'd like.. but don't ask me to take a picture! But hey, I tried. Have a lovely, lazy Sunday y'all.

Hello lovely readers! Whew, am I glad this week is over or what. I had a million and one things to do this past week. Oh, and I had no idea what a handful a puppy could be. Kids definitely won't be in the picture for atleast another 5 years.

Hello! I hope everyone is getting to enjoy spring!

We have had some crazy weather here in the South. But, gosh, am I glad the sun was shining today,
and tomorrow will be almost like summer. I need this great weather to lift my spirits since my wonderful best friend… my boyfriend, Tom, had to go back to Baltimore on Tuesday. Let’s just say I am having some separation issues! I mean, he'll only be gone for 10 days. What is wrong with me? I keep telling myself how ridiculous I am to be so sad! Goodness. Help me, Lord, to walk with You!

So, on to positive thoughts and fun stuff….

I have been surfing the web lately for puppy goodies. I was thinking of buying Bailey a little bed and maybe a sweater or two, but I had no idea what a selection would be available to me! I am so excited to introduce the newest member of my family, Bailey.

He is a 5 month old minature apricot poodle. We adopted him from a wonderful shelter

called Sunny Meadows. They rescue dogs from puppy mills or abusive homes.

In Bailey's case, he was saved from an awful puppy mill.

Bailey is absolutely, hands down, the best dog I have ever had.

He's a non-stop cuddler, doesn't chew furniture, and has YET to have an accident

in the house. I'm telling you, it has to be a poodle thing. I have never

been so in love with a little dog as I am this one. I'm the

luckiest puppy Mom on the planet!

By the way, he is the reason I've been too busy to post. I've been getting

him acclimated and into a routine. Sorry y'all.

I am so excited about my new discovery!

Today I stumbled upon DownMagaz.com. For $10 a month you can

read almost any magazine you want - all from the convenience of your computer.

It is the best thing ever. I'd like to share with you some of my favorite finds.

I have always adored Home & Antiques Mag.

Infact, I have the print issue sitting right next to me.

This month's publication is all about springing up your space.

The colors are fresh & fabulous. Ofcoarse, this style of decorating isn't for everyone

(defintely not me), however, how wonderful would it be to

spend a day in a little slice of sunshine?

Okay, this has to be my favorite.. I just discovered Canada's Style at Home magazine.

As far as I know, this little treasure is not available in US bookstores. However, you can read it for free at Zinio, (a free, digital magazine site). This publication has every interior you could imagine. From french country to chic eclectic - Style at Home seems to meet every style preference.

Fun Tip of the Week: Keep a Skrapbook

( a mix between a sketchbook & a scrapbook)

As we all know, blogging is an easy, enjoyable, and artful way

of cataloging inspirational material. But there are other creative alternatives that

can be just as entertaining - if not more. If you don't already, start keeping

a personal skrapbook to document tangible finds that interest you.

Keeping a blog is cool, but keeping a skrapbook is way cooler.

3 Steps for Getting Started:

1. Start collecting material for your inspirational inventory.

Ex: images, fabric swatches, buttons, jewelry, tissue paper,

scrapbook accents, sequins, foil, trim, letters,

newspaper, artwork, cards, etc.

2. Be disciplined

Set aside atleast 20 minutes a day to collage your

inspirations. In the begining it might take some effort to sit down

and scrap. Keep at it though - soon it will become a habit.

3. Don't be afraid of failure

There is no such thing as messing up. Don't worry so much about

"how it looks," worry more about incorporating your ideas. This will become

something you'll cherish all your life. Promise.

A skrapbook is like a tangible slice of your soul.

I am really excited about taking on a new project for my Etsy shop today. I have started making custom wall letters. They are super fun to make and fairly simple to create - as long as you don't get easily frustrated! So far I only have two products, but stay tuned, there are much more to come.

I am so excited about celebrating my

100th follower!

In honor of this special day, I'd like to begin with a little history of Pink Mascara.

When I began house hunting two months ago,

my immediate concern became "how am I going to decorate it?"

Yes, when I should have been worrying about costs, location, etc, I was obsessing over the design. That's an artist for ya. Interior design had always interested me, but since I wasn't a home owner, I didn't get to put my interest to use. Buying a house was a way I could finally put my love of design to work.

After searching through images on the internet and discovering ID blogs.. I decided that keeping my own blog would be the best way to catalog my ideas for my furture home. I knew it could be a fun hobby to have, what I didn't know is how fun it would be.

Keeping up with a blog was one of the best decisions I ever made. Really! Not only does it inspire my art, enhance my skills, and keeps me updated with trends - but it also is the most relaxing part of my day.

I always look forward to snuggling up in my bed at night, escaping my chaotic life, and stepping into a world of inspirational bliss.

Since I've started blogging, I have begun looking at the world from a different perspective. I notice things I had never noticed before, such as, the way a store arranges their merchandise, my mom's outdated sitting room, etc. It is fascinating! It makes life captivating. I am so observant now. I seem to find design in places I'd never looked before. It is amazing!

Blogging has inspired me to change my entire future/career. I use to want to be a fashion design, but after spending a semester at Pratt, I quickly realized it wasn't for me. I was lost and discouraged. But then I discovered the art of home design. If I had never begun Pink Mascara, it is possible that this love of mine could have remained dormant in my heart forever.

Too Cute to Eat

I have been in this strange mood lately. You know those crazy moods--when you become randomly obsessed with something that has never before interested you? This is how I am with cookies at the moment. And let me tell you, my metabolism needs more than a few jumping jacks to pay for it!

Cookie art may be beautiful, but trust me, making beautiful cookies takes time, practice, and LOTS of clean-up! A couple of summers ago, I was inspired to master the art myself. One hundred burned or malformed cookies later, I retired. I decided to stick with what I know and leave bakery art to professionals!

Looking at these fun cookies makes me want to try again. However, the vivid memory of the cooking aftermath keeps re-appearing in my mind and stops me from doing it. Ugh, but they are so cute!!

Many of you may already be familiar with her work, but I just discovered the a-m-a-z-i-n-g Elizabeth Dinkel. With an education from one of the top art schools in the world, Parsons, it is no wonder that Dinkel's has made it to where she is today. Her work has been recognized by magazines such as: House Beautiful, Elle Decor, and Veranda.

Elizabeth's style is a mix of posh patterns and serene accents.

Rue Magazine

If you haven't been over to Rue yet, you better get there now. They just released their March/April issue and, like always, it is fantastic. From to-die-for prints to soft, summer spaces - you will be in inspirational bliss as you flip through these pages. Here is a round-up of some the issue's ultra-fab features.

I am very much coveting the zebra rug & Louis luggage. The gold elephant is growing on me. He looks like he would be fun little pet. I am big believer in incorporating nature/the wild indoors and the playful, lion pillow & strange elephant statue are really achieving this effect.

I believe that these three images are from all different spaces, I just thought they looked best in collaboration with eachother. I wish my vanity looked more like the one on the left does. It seems so simple & untouched. Very lovely.

ADORE the dog spotted wallpaper! It is just delicious. The idea of a dog in a restroom, perhaps even using the restroom, is hysterical. Oh, and this gaudy 70s room.. It's not my favorite but it works.

The image on the right would be my dream studio. Open spaces, lots of sunshine, fresh flowers, ah perfection.

My Collages

I hope everyone had a wonderful Monday!

I went to class and then ran around all day searching for goodies for Tom's 24th birthday tomorrow. I can't say I had too much luck…he has everything! I thought about buying him a pair of Steve Madden loafers, but he is so stubborn that he wouldn't wear them. I can't get him out of his Nike Shox! Ugh…men.

Any suggestions for Tom's birthday? I want to do/give him something he would never expect. It doesn't even have to be something that is bought in a store. Maybe a hand-written letter? A collage? I’ve already made him a scrapbook, plus those take forever. I could really use some creative ideas!

I’ll share some of my latest works which are more like a hobby. Some might call it art, but since it is more therapeutic than anything else, I think of it as a hobby. And if I really wanted to be technical, I would say that this is not art unless defined by some type of institute, gallery owner, or word-renowned artist...blah blah blah. For now, I’ll call it my artistic hobby.

If I really wanted to be a show-off and post all the works that got me awards galore, scholarships, & art school acception letters I would. But those works were made for different reasons. My heart wasn't in them. I made them solely to make my teacher proud & to get into any art school I wanted. I have to admit, they are pretty to look at, but inside they are empty. That makes me sad :(

This is a mixed media collage that I made a couple of months ago.

I was dealing with some really tough situations at the time. Everywhere I went I dragged a bag full of guilt around with me. On one of my toughest nights I sat down and prayed for God to motivate and empower me with the type of courage only he can give. And, well, this was his answer. Or atleast his visual answer. He taught me how to fly again.. fly like I never had before. Even though I have messed up, he never gives up on us. Our messes are never too big for him to clean up.

Each element in this collage symbolizes something that has to do with recovery. That night, I surrendered to God and asked him to carry the guilt and shame that was imprisoning me. As soon as I did, everything became crystal clear. I honestly believe he helped me with this collage. After I was finished I broke down in tears. It was overwhelming & yet incredible to know that the burden had been lifted, the chains were set free, and I could fly again.

I actually just made this one last night & didn't take long at all.

What started out as a painting somehow manifested itself into this. The meanings behind this one are a little deeper than the other. Yes, far too deep for my happy little hideway to handle.

If it makes you feel any better though, the overall message the work is trying to prevail is: when life fouls and stains the things that were once beautiful, don't give up. God has the tendency to take those broken, unwanted pieces and make something even more beautiful out of them.

Today I am inspired by gorgeous headboards. A great headboard is all you need to complete a room. With a fabulous headboard, the only other materials you need to buy are simple throws & a fluffy comforter to accent it. Tufted boards are probably my favorite. It is always a plus when you can find one that is tufted and has a beautiful, victorian shape. Which one is your favorite?

Splendid little Spaces to Admire & Inspire

Wow, I can't beleive how bad I have been about posting. Shame on me! I am usually religious when it comes to blogging. This must not become a habit.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. This week is God's gift to all students, the long awaited, much anticipated, spring break.. ahh. Thank you for all of your kind, bon voyage wishes. My trip to Nashville was the best 29-hour-getaway I think I've ever had. When she heard we were visiting, my sweet Aunt offered us her beautiful home to stay in. Their family is spending the week in Florida, so Tom & I enjoyed the house all to ourselves. I did a little shopping while I was there. I found a very, figure-flattering, Susana Monaco halter & two pairs of chunky, gladiator style sandals.. along with several other not needed but badly wanted items.

I wish I had cute photos of the trip to display :( I still haven't discovered the solution to taking pictures when it's just you and another person. I always get a kick out of people who still take those terribly unflattering, myspace posed pictures. I don't care if you model for Victoria's Secret, no one looks good in a picture they took of themselves.

So today I thought I'd do a little pick-me-up post. These fabulous little arrangements are here to inspire some sprucing up. If the knick-knacks on my end tables, coffee tables, kitchen counter, cosmetic cubby, etc. don't get rearranged every so often, I get bored. I find that rearranging little spaces such as these is the quickest, easiest, and usually thriftiest way to change the mood of a room. Plus, it's an instant mood booster & allows you to use your creative streak. If it has been over a month since you mixed up the books on your nightstand or picture frames in your living room, it's time to get inspired & go to work!

Using clutches & wallets to accessorize shelves & tables is fashionable, feminine way to spice up a space. I love how this little, gold handbag is being used as a bookend. I would have never thought of this!

I have a habit of going into bookstores & instead of looking for books to read, I look for books to display!

I am always looking for new ways to arrange my cosmetics & toiletries. Teacups, vintage china, & plastic organizers (like the ones on the right) look great. Try buying a 10", glass jar (hobbylobby or michaels has cheap ones) and stuff it with colorful soaps, ribbons, or bracelets.

In honor of spring break, I thought I'd do a coastal post.

Very sleepy tonight so I apologize about my lack of words. I basically don't sleep anymore.. I just love being up! I wish I were going to the beach this week, but sadly I am not. My mom & brother took a trip to Paris and Switzerland, while I am left here. The boyfriend and I are going to take a road trip to Nashville on Monday though.

Spring 2011 Trend Alert: Sky Scraper Heels, Bows, Animal Print, Glitter, & Nude

With spring comes warm weather, budding flowers, & FABULOUS fashions. There is no doubt that this spring is any different. I am simply in love with these must-have finds. I must confess, I have spent hours (remember: I have lots of free time) hunting down the hottest items. But everywhere I look I see four styles: sparkles, neutrals/blushes, bows galore, & animal print. I am afraid I am incredibly coveting them all. The best thing about these styles is that they all go perfectly with denim & can be worn casually or dressed up. Luck, Instyle, Marie Claire, and Elle have all agreed, these are the trends you want to invest in this spring. Girls, it's time to shop, shop, shop!

Animal prints made their first debut in the early 1960s when Jackie O appeared in a lovely, little, leopard-print jacket. Later on, it became more popular with the hipster society. Icons like, Kate Moss & Beyonce are two celebrities I immeadiately think of when I see prints. Kate pairs hers with grungy jeans & slouchy sweater and Beyonce incorporates animal prints with bold metalics & accessories. It just goes to show that this off & on trend can be worn in many, different ways.

I think animal prints are great because they add texture & spunk to any outfit. I think they especially look great with simple, black leggings & a bright top. Simplicity is key when it comes to prints. You don't want to look like a walking zoo. Keep your other pieces uncomplicated. Pinks, corals, & turquoises look fabulous with these prints.

These shiny shoes are really sparking up spring! Sparkles say, "look at me, I am fabulous & I know it!" Don't you love walking into a warm, cozy room? You know, one that makes you want to snuggle up with your favorite book? The following images are some of my absolute favorite comfy, cozy rooms. They make me happy just looking at them - imagine walking into one! As soon as I get a house I am devoting an entire room to warmth.

Every image is from House Beautiful. The pastels, pinks, corals, and blues radiate off an aura of love & comfort. Soft sofas paired with lovely throws creates a space that whispers, "come snuggle!" Fresh flowers give these rooms a feminine accent that intensifies their bold patterns.

This arrangement seems so simple, yet so sophisticated. I am a collector of colorful books. They add the finishing touch to any tabletop or shelf. This space has every element in which an interior needs in order to be successful: texture, shape, contrasting colors, diagonals, & pattern. Lovely.

I just can't get over this space! It is so chic, so feminine, so warm, so classy! I love when mix & match patterns all come together and create perfection. The window allows the already warm room a vitamin D glow. How splendid.

Hello lovely ladies! Hope you all had a fantastic weekend. I can't say I did much myself. On Friday night I went dancing with the boyfriend & a couple of friends. Saturday I spent most of the day recovering.. and today was eventless! Haha. Oh! I did accomplish something pretty big though - I created my first Etsy shop today. Yaye! I doubt I will get too many customers.. but we'll see.

If you'd like to see my site just go here. There are only a few items for sale at the moment. The original prints are of my highschool artwork. I have won several awards for them & they got me into Pratt. Everything in the shop is fairly cheap, so hopefully that will attract buyers. Once I have made a bit of publicity I might consider raising the prices. For now, all items are about $20.00.

OKAY: I need a love guru. This has been really been bothering me lately. Tom & I have been fighting like animals - all the time. We can't make it through the day without getting into some stupid argument. Seriously, the fights are usually about how I am hanging up the clothes wrong. Ugh! It seems like we actually "like" to fight.

So- I have come the the conclusion that there are two reasons why we bicker. One: We see in eachother the things that we hate in ourselves. Does that make sense? Tom and I are alot alike. Almost too much to even be together. (oh but we love eachother!) I don't know a solution. Why when we love eachother so much do we treat one another so poorly at times? After the fight we spend an hour sweet talking one another & apologizing profusely.. & the cycle continues.

The second reason we fight is because of boredom. Because of the way our schedules work out, our days our filled with a ton of free time. As people with ADD, one of our biggest necessities is a busy, productive, and routine schedule. However, we don't have one right now. This makes us irritated, out of sorts, and anxious. We have got to figure out how to get it together. I want to spend the rest of my life with him... just not like this.

Any advice?

Okay, so I have a special connection to bras. Weird? Yes. I started wearing one in 4th grade. YES! Can you beleive it? I hit puberty wayyy before all of my classmates. Instead of being proud of my budding breasts, I was embarrassed. Kids would laugh and make fun of me so I'd layer myself with sports bras to pad myself down. One day I wore 7 of them to school. Today, I love my chest. I am very grateful that I will never need implants! However, there were times when I wanted them chopped off. Haha. (3, 4)

What is it?

Rehabilitated Dishware was created by a girl whose mission was to create dishware out of existing products. These dishes are made out of unused or tossed away ceramics. Her eclectic designs make a perfect edition to any chic dinning room. Each piece represents a product that is often thrown away or jammed in a storage closet. Sarah is making a profound statement about our wasteful habits & the importance of going green.

I am absolutely infatuated by these unique ceramics. Not only do they look fabulous but they also have an underlying message. You don’t find many dishes that accomplish that! However, they aren’t easy to find. Only one website sells them & they only have a select few. I would love to invest in some of these lovely works of art.
